He had previously served 8 years in the A.I.R. and 21st (Woollahra) Infantry and three and a half years in 2nd Regiment V.I. NSW. Leonard served in the 18th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney on the 'Ceramic' 25 June 1915. Captain Leonard John BANFIELD was Killed in Action on 22 August 1915 at Gallipoli Turkey age 40. |
