Birth: 26 July 1875 Cobbitty NSW, Australia Death: 22 August 1915 (age 40) Gallipoli Turkey, Killed in Action Cemetery or Memorial: Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey Father: John BANFIELD Mother: Sarah Ann BRAY Marriage: Mary Bridget Elizabeth Ann DWYER, 1896 Young NSW Children : Mary Leonore,  John D'Arcy,  Nellie Lillian,  Marjory Alberta,  Albert J Leonard gave his occupation as Public School Teacher when he enlisted 24 June 1915 and his next of kin his wife Mrs Mary Banfield of 'Aldine' Melville Street Ryde, Sydney. He had previously served 8 years in the A.I.R. and 21st (Woollahra) Infantry and three and a half years in 2nd Regiment V.I. NSW. Leonard served in the 18th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney on the 'Ceramic' 25 June 1915. Captain Leonard John BANFIELD was Killed in Action on 22 August 1915 at Gallipoli Turkey age 40.
